I'm guessing it'll mean more large display phones?
800x480 is like already >200dpi on a 4.3in screen, which seems pretty good already...

I'm guessing the software is updateable?  Then again, I've heard that the manufacturers actually have to implement it or similar - that is, you can't just install it yourself?

Compared the HTC Sensation with the Galaxy S II, seems the latter:
- has SAMOLED Plus screen vs S-LCD, which is probably slightly better for video watching
- screen, being 15:9 means 16:9 content is a little stretched, but on the other hand, slightly larger screen area and a less rectangular form factor I guess (so I call this one even)
- smaller and lighter
- comes with 16GB internal storage vs 1GB, but then, they both include an 8GB microSD, which is probably suffice for my purposes
- seems to have double the battery life, although the HTC's seems to be sufficient for me

Don't really care about the other differences, like Near Field support etc, so it looks like the extra $100 for the Galaxy S II isn't worth it for me >_>
At the moment, leaning towards the Sensation, assuming the dual core CPU and improved screen are worth the additional ~$80.

Don't seem to be that many around these days, especially those that run Android. >_>
Then again, there aren't many large screen phones.
Have any recommendations?

Google'd 720p screen phones, but it seems most of them refer to Google's next phone, due in a couple of months, which has Android 4.0.  If that's going to become mainstream, maybe I'll wait for 4.0 then.

From the responses here, I'm guessing the single core processor of the Desire HD is mostly suffice for most tasks then.  Can never be sure of the future, but I'm doubting I'll need any intensive apps anyway.

Could get an Archos 42 (4.2" Screen) or an Archos 70 (7" Screen). I think the 7" is around $480 AUD (250GB)

RE: What large screen phone should I get?
Smartphones all have terrible battery life

The Archos doesn't, and it runs on Android (be it 2.2), doesn't have market on it, but can be added if you look up how online

RE: What large screen phone should I get?
Screen resolution of the Xperia Play is pretty good I think, but I don't really need the PSP controls.

Archos 43 looks pretty interesting - thanks for the suggestion.  Though most of the internet features are useless because there's like no Wifi hotspots around here.  I'll have to look deeper in it, but it seems to have most of the features of high end phones, minus actual phone feature itself, and wireless internet.
