I would go for the mechanic job.  There are too many software developers in the world.  Ever1 wants to be a web designer

^ Not exactly.  But, in relation to the IT industry, yes.  Web developing is really simple though.

I dunno how the outsourcing to India is though.  One thing, in Australia, IT sucks.

If you're willing, you can try to aim for an Engineering degree - Engineering is really difficult, but if you're good at maths and physics, you'll probably get through.
Hehe, all my friends did engineering - I was considering it, but then, business was sooo much easier :P

If you wanted to do stuff with cars, as in a mechanic, the apprenticeship would probably be the only way...

Invalice Wrote:im taking IB in my school

im doing high level chemistry, english, history

then low level chinese and maths

im still in 10th grade

Meh, i did IB too, before i dropped out of it.

IMO it's pointless unless ur a real all rounder, who is good at everything.

Since I'm good at some stuff, and shtt in others, if i stuck with IB, my UAI will be like 10 points lower.

Anyways, about the job, depends on what kinda stuff u like doing.

I mean software engineer is basically sitting infront of a computer. Mechanic on the other hand is heavy physical work.

Do u like physical work better, or sitting infront of a computer?

All the people who do engineering i know say that the actual engineering course is mind numbingly simple... atleast at the moment. Probably gets harder. On the other hand, engineering requires u to do courses in physics, and maths, and that's hard. Meh, still easier than stats, which is what i have to do.

Anyways, I'm doing actuarial studies. Pays $60,000+ here in Australia as soon as u get out of uni. If u become a true actuary (graduate from uni, then u need to do heaps more tests and stuff. Supposed to be VERY hard.) u earn a lot more, upward of $200,000.

hmmm. looking at the stats for actuarial studies in uni here... 75% of people drop out cause it's too hard... that's doesn't look cool.

This is only a 3 year course though, and pays better than med. Screw medicine, which is 7 years in Australia, and if u want to earn lots, u have to basically do at least 6 more, up to 12 more years of specialization... if u don't specialize, u don't earn that much... that and ur previous schooling to get into med added up means that 1/2 yr life is spend studying... = i don't understant why med is still the subject with the highest entry score in Australia. (Although i think it's just australia) I mean yeah, it pays good, but dude, studying for 1/2 yr life is NOT COOL.

I studied art for 2 years, design (graphic, architectural, product, interior etc) for 2 years, character animation (cartoons) for a year, then started work for a 2nd hand store.  I now sell Mortgages for New Zealand's biggest Bank.  qualifications are for losers.  Hahaha

RE: What Courses should i study??
Well, you have a choice in one aspect of, erm, this whatever...

You can try to do something you like, or aim for something which is easy or high paying.  It's up to you.
I personally prefer to have something I enjoy or find easy than some really high paying job.  Some may disagree - it's a matter of personal choice.  But they don't offer actuary studies in Brisbane, so...
