well i thought vb6 would really only be good for guis and basic file manipulation, and from my experience making a gui in vb6 was easy - doing it in c++ was extremly hard, in fact i couldnt do it (very little proper training you see).

That doesn't mean your going to stop working on it in the future does it?

because with 3.50 OE on its way noone knows what new wee will discover

Actually, if you don't use MFC, it just takes a lot of effort - it isn't particularly hard, but very time consuming...
Eg, you have to write stuff like CreateWindowEx() etc to make windows/controls.
(but most people just use MFC)

I doubt the RCO structure has changed much.  The format's quite limited anyway, in what it can do...

I can compile it for you if you want, though if you have VB6, it shouldn't be a problem anyways, as RCO Editor doesn't really depend on anything (that VB6 doesn't come with).

Well, here is the first "mod" of RCOEdit 1.14d : RCOEdit 1.14d FR. Ac_K, author of this traduction, has also modded the option menu so that editing the INI isn't required any more :
