PS3 rendering issues.
Well first I had that screen gets all messed up (I searched on and I think it's a heat issue for the PS3 it's self) and now I'm getting polygon rendering problems.

Well I was playing Sonic Unleashed (again) while playing Shamar Night I noticed that a wall was completely invisible unless I approached near it. And in the first two parts Eggman land the background and some far away objects don't render properly unless I get closer to them.
I swore it wasn't like that first.

Now I don't really think it's the CD's fault it's happening and I have a few reasons why.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1854952-pl..._rendering

And my other reason is only an assumption, but I don't find it logical that a CD can damaged to display graphics like that.

I tried it with MGS:4 but I couldn't really notice it but I thought I saw a few hints of it happening. The problem is I don't really have that many 3d exploring environment games to test this on though.

Lastly I have installed the SU update but I deleted it because it made the loading screen freeze sometimes.

An interesting note for those who don't know, PS3 can only render half the amount of polygons a 360 can.

but the polygons look better on the ps3 than it does on the 360 :P

sounds like a heat problem to me.  :(  what resolution are you set to run at 480/720/1080?

When it happeneded I used the following

Connection type: AV MULTI/SCART (can't if it was RBG or that other setting)
Resolution: Standard (PAL)
TV Type 16:9

most likely the RSX GPU is overheating, that's what happened to my mate's one.

on the other hand, my 60GB runs fine :D

lol

yeah the 60GB has rare instances of inadequate cooling on the GPU, leading to artifacting and graphical problems.

RE: PS3 rendering issues.
yeah, kinda annoying cause I've had mine since launch and never had any problems until now.. just seemed to happen all of a sudden.
don't think there's any fix for it other than sending it in to sony..and my warranty has expired now too :(

RE: PS3 rendering issues.
It might be just dust blocking the airflow....

You could try if your PS3 supports the Fan Overpower thingy.... some people say it's totally harmless and blows all the dust out and others say it can harm the PS3 so do this on your own risk!

1. Make sure your PS3 wasn't used for a while so it's cool.
2. Turn off the back main power switch.
3. Hold the eject button, while holding it turn the main power switch back on.
4. If your model supports it the PS3 will howl up for about 15secs with all fans at max speed
5. After the PS3 is finished howling turn off the main power switch again and wait 15mins for it to cool down again.
