Heat issues....
First of all my PC is running fine however I'm still concerned about the heat....
As it turns warmer again my PC is yet again emitting heat waves....
I pretty much ignored them last year when I build this PC because it was near autumn and I never felt heat in Winter...

Well now I went and checked my CPU temperature which is at freaking 57°C in Windows....
My GPU runs at 90°C idle which is considered normal by ATI but I really doubt 57°C is normal for a AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition running at 2.5Ghz pretty much idling....

My GPU is a ATI RADEON HD4850 512MB and my case is an Aerocool iCurve with a pre-attached big fan at the rear otherwise I have no additional fans and GPU and CPU have stock fans. I thought of buying and additional side fan for the case but I'm not sure...

Any help would be greatly appreciated Gongxi

RE: Heat issues....
Go into the BIOS and see if the Fan Speed is set to automatic. If it is then set it to manual. (It should default to the highest fan speed)

The effectiveness of the cooling depends a lot on your ambient (room) temperatue. With room temperature of ~22°C, my Phenom 9550 runs on about 30°C idle, and about 50°C full load (100% CPU use). On hot days (lets say ambient temp of 35°C) the load temp can reach like 63°C or something.
Spoiler for screenshots:

Load

While the 9550 is weaker than the 9850, mine is overclocked to 2.64GHz, which is faster than yours, so I don't really think it'll produce much less heat, if not more. I'm on stock fan also (although I changed thermal compound, cause I already have the stuff around).

57°C on full load isn't all that bad. But if the 57 is on idle, then you might want to look into better cooling. Alternatively, you can attempt to lower your CPU voltages (make sure you stress test it afterwards to make sure it's actually stable).

Are you sure 90°C on idle is normal for your GPU.... That seems really hot to me.

A side system ide fan wouldn't really cool your CPU/GPU that much. If you really want to cool your CPU/GPU, you need to upgrade your CPU/GPU fans.
