RE: iPhone 3G Official And Cheap
i gots some news for ya.. since at&t is the only place you can legally active an iphone in the US i thought this might be useful
Quote:AT&T just gave us new details on how their upgrading plans will work for the iPhone 3G. The company is treating the iPhone 3G pretty much just like any other phone in that people who are ineligible for upgrades have to pay the full, unsubsidized price for the phone. People who qualify for upgrade status and people who have an original iPhone are free to upgrade at the $199/$299 price set by Apple. AT&T hasn't specified what the unsubsidized price is, so wee'll update when wee know more. Here's how you know if you're eligible

First off, customers switching to AT&T for the 3G iPhone will get the discounted price with a new 2-year contract, but the data plan will be $30 per month.

Existing iPhone customers are also eligible and will also keep the $20 per month data plan. Being an early adopter sometimes pays off!

However, this is where the discounts stop for most people. If you are an existing AT&T customer you will only get the $199/$299 price if you are currently eligible for an upgrade. This is how most cell phones work and it isn't surprising that the 3G iPhone falls under this program.
isn't that what its supposed to cost anyways?  ive been hearing alot on G4 that the iphone is going to cost more then announced
