AzumiUehara and i were messign aroudn wtih the rco that vegetano posted here and after not booting from the topmenu_plugin.rco with name changes and the topmenu_icon.rco with 2 icons changed i gave up for fear of corruption. :(

MAYBE the files that arent change by the ptf can still be modified!?!?!

oh yeah i bet that's what it it. that would explain why wee can modify the wave,01-12.bmp, and the visualizer but still doesn't explain why impose_plugin.rco didn't work. oh and opening_plugin won't work either.

If that's true, a dummy PTF file may work...
If anyone wants to try, just extract the first 0x120 bytes of a PTF file, and nullify (set to 0x00) the last 0x20 bytes of the 0x120 bytes.
Save this as a PTF file.

hrmm...but what would a dummy ptf get us?

When you choose a theme it puts a .dat file (sory forgot the name and don't have psp around) on the flash1 in vsh/theme.  Im guessing that file would fall apart as easy as the ptf did in the hands of zinga burga..

Well, according to your theory, the PTF "overwrites" RCO icons.
Note that PTFs actually lack some icons, ie the Location Free Player.  A dummy PTF lacks _all_ icons, in other words, the PSP would read all the icons from the RCO instead.

Lol.  I'm guessing the DAT file is probably just a copy of the PTF?  Try renaming it to .ptf and see if it acts like one... :P
