Microsoft has started with testing new vertaaldienst, which is with regard to functions nearly identical to those of Google and Altavista, but that well tries make with a more beautiful interface.
On translator.live.com the translator can be tried. It is both possible a piece text and a complete translate Internet site. The service uses of the engine van Systran - the same that behind ancient babbelvis of Altavista sits - and supports thus the same languages, among which Dutch, German, French, English and Spanish.
Unique, however, checkbox are indicate if the source text one contains, but what has that exactly for impact is not clear. The way becomes originally beside the translated document is put in any case, however, tidy finishes.
Uh, yeah. So now that the language barrier has truly been broken, what will happen? Will suffering economies boom? Will Iraqi's take over North America? The possibilities are endless...

RE: Microsoft launches new translation service
Why M$ insist on making inferior products in markets owned by google is beyond me. Perhaps if they had concentrated more on there OS than these side projects Vista wouldn't be the glorious clusterfudge that it is.

RE: Microsoft launches new translation service
Wow, Microsoft takes another go at Google...
Google already has a strong reputation on it's search engine part, but probably not so much on other things (Google Maps would probably come 2nd), so I guess MS may be trying to take over the "bottom markets" before everyone moves to Google...

RE: Microsoft launches new translation service
Yeah, but earlier in the year Google has shifted some of it greatest grey matter over to developing a new translation engine, one which doesn't translate words and sentences just from a lookup database, but actually understands the correlation of of a phrase to give a far more accurate translation, and by all accounts it should be ready by Feb/March time. So unless M$ have something VERY special, it's just another waste of cash.

^ I read a similar article, but from that source, they claimed that Google was planning to spend at least about 10 years on the project...

RE: Microsoft launches new translation service
That wouldn't be uncommon, Google tend to set very long term goals when it comes to projects like this. It's one of the major reasons they managed to pull off the massive brain-drain from Microsoft.
