RE: HELP! URGENT, i think i bricked!
just tell sony you got it as a birthday present last month or something, they don't ask for proof of purchase, well not in the uk anyway. that's what i did cause i couldnt be bothered giving an exact date so i made it up..
i rang them up and they arranged a date when someone would come and take my psp and give me another one..

i think I'll do that, all i have to do is first find out from my friend how long he has had if for...
hopefully it is under a year :S

would i first phone Sony? or just send it to them with a letter or an email saying what happened?

what do you guys think is the best excuse? that it stopped working after i was trying to upgrade to 3.51 and my battery ran out, or something like that?

Don't send it to sony or tell them anything about it,take it back to the shop he got it from and tell them it won't charge any more and do this.

1.Format the mem stick or take it out all together(needs to go back with the original 2.71 files or whatever it was before)
2.Run the bat right down (they will check the bat)
3.Cross your fingers.

I did this before and i got a new one they might send it away but that's ok.i got mine sent to a sony guy they can't tell or are too lazy to look,he will try to turn on see no power, look at bat,see its flat, try a new one,it won't work he won't go to the trouble of investagating the motherboard, they will give you a new one.Just make sure you say it won't charge that's it you don't need to say anything else mate.

i might try that. my friend only bought it around a month ago, so he is trying to find the receipt, and if he does, I'll just take it back to the retailer with an excuse. (for Aussies here, the place he bought it from is Harvey Norman)

with the memory stick, I'll probably just give back my 32MB one, I'm not giving his 2gb back lol.
when i format it, are the only folders i need: PSP>Game, System, Video, Pictures?

RE: HELP! URGENT, i think i bricked!
alrite its been a while later, but I've finally got around to going back to the retailer.

i went back to Harvey Norman, and explained my problem to one of their "techies" (my story was: that i was upgrading from 2.71 to 3.52 and it just crashed in the process) and he said that I'll have to send it to sony, and that either he gives me the number for Sony, or that he will phone them up and deal with it then get back to me. for some reason i chose that I'll send it off to sony, so after that i went home.

when i got home, i straight away phoned Sony Aus and went trough all the processes to get to PSP Tech Support. i spoke to a techie who first asked my name, just for promotional purposes and wee went on. i then explained my problem, (i bought my PSP about a month ago [which is when my friend actually bought his] and it crashed during updating to 3.52). he then said that because the system software was corrupted, it voided my warranty. and i thought "WHAT!?". and then he said that it would cost $145 AUS to repair/replace the console. he asked if i needed to think about it and call back, and i said yes. so i discussed this with my mum because i don't have $145 with me, i barely have $20 (it pays to have a job, too bad i don't have one) and she was angry, but she said to go through with it.

so i phoned up again but this time spoke to a different guy, so when he asked if the AC was plugged in, this time i said yes. but that made no difference. he still said that it would be $145. wee continued passed where i stopped with the other guy, so i got the details on what i need to send, and to where. after that, i was about to send it when i realised that if i got the guy from Harvey Norman to send it, it may not cost me the $145, but then again it might. so on the weekend i might try going to Harvey Norman and getting the guy there to send it, and hopefully it won't cost anything, but the guy from Harvey Norman will probably ask me to pay for it so that will be no use. I'm thinking about calling again, but with a different name (probably my friend's name) so it might not cost anything, but the problem is that when he asked for things like the Serial Number etc, he will get the same ones that i said with my Second call under my real name.

seeing as i already gave my details (serial number) to Sony, it won't work if i said the same thing but under a different name, or would it?
because i just recently bought a new phone, I'm strapped for cash, so I'm thinking of selling my White Nintendo DS Lite on eBay (plus 2 or 3 games), and I've check out ones that are the exact same as mine and are going for $190-240 Aus, which would be awesome if i could get that.

The only problem is that my friend gave me this little warranty shit that says that because his PSP he's only had for 1 and a Half months, the warranty should still be in action even with the firmware fcuking it up. but when i phoned sony, they said that it voids the warranty?

what i want to do is go to my friends place and phone sony, but this time say it just didn't turn on one day (eventhough they will go through a big troubleshooting process with me which will do nothing). but as i said before, the only problem is that I've already given them the serial number, so when i say it at my friends place, they'll say the serial has already been registered.

So what should i do?

now that the Pandora's Box unbricker is out, I'll ask the same thing that i asked on this thread: http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthr...&pid=44555 but here.

would this work on my friend's PSP even if it is a TA-82 motherboard? all i would need is another PSP battery :P

I think it would work since it says I read somewhere over at -hacks that it will work on any hardware version (aka motherboard)

It will work on that machine but I think the machine will still have problems because of the corrupted ID Storage which no-one except Sony can fix.
