Apple announces...the iPad?
So, Apple had an event, and announced the new iPad.
Here's the specs:
Quote:9.4 mm thick
1.4 pounds
9.7" 2048x1536 LED-backlit IPS LCD screen
Dual-core A5X processor (It's an upgrade to their A5 processor)
Quad-core GPU
4G LTE from AT&T and Verizon + 3G radios for international use with a micro SIM slot
A front-facing camera, used for FaceTime
A rear-facing 5MP camera with a 5-element lens
1080p video @ 30fps with auto-focusing
10-hour Wifi battery life, and 9 hours of 4G battery life
Same pricing as the iPad 2.
You can pre-order it now, and sales will begin on March 16th. (Good luck finding one)

RE: Apple announces...the iPad?
Hmm...I dunno. The issue I see with upgrading the hardware like this is the lack of support for it. I don't think a lot of developers will spend the time making their app compatible with three different iPad versions, plus all of the iPhone versions if they're going for cross-platform (I forgot what apps for both systems are called) support.
Edit: I guess processor-intensive apps that can scale properly for each version will work all right, but stuff like games (which Apple seems to be big on promoting these days, even though the idea of dual virtual sticks and virtual buttons is incredibly flawed (but let's not get into that here)) aren't going to be able to look their best, right? Performance-wise, apps running on this one will probably run better, but they can't look better until developers are sure it's worth the effort spend extra time on one version. Then again, I don't know anything about how people develop apps, so maybe it's super easy.

It's funny because the thread is right under this one in the "latest threads" column. There's no way you could miss it.
