How much do we fine for music piracy again?
Remember that woman back in 2007 who was fined $220,000 for (illegally) downloading 24 songs?
Well, back in 2009, there was a retrial, where she was liable for $1.92 million for the songs.  The judge decided this was far too much, and reduced it to $54,000.
And now, in another round, this has been changed again, to $1.5 million.

Perhaps this is the result of hollywood accounting?

I'm pretty sure the record companies are doing this just to try and scare off people. I wouldn't be surprised if they were paying for most or all of it.

Yeh it does seem too extortionate, more likely a stunt

Hell she was probally paid to illegaly download those 24 songs just so that the media could create such a fuss

If I went to a record shop and 'borrowed' a few CD's I would be charged with shoplifting, but if I do it from my home using a computer I get a fine? Something is not right that. Or is it just me?

As far as I see she downloaded copies that were of less quality then the originals.

They say she "'borrowed'" these songs.

I wasn't aware that those songs were forever gone for mankind because she now has them in her possession.

These inflated prices the record company/court set on an inferior product are absurd.

Who's next photographers who happens to catch some artwork in their family picture.

The artist says" Your family vacation picture posted on Facebook has MY artwork in it. You have copied and are distributing it without my permission, this has cost me $1,000,000 in lost sales. I'm suing you now"

Wee'll it could be a way for starving artists to try and get paid. lol

I think it's because she uploaded the songs, ie, typical P2P where you share the stuff back.
Maybe I'm wrong.
