Okay help me EP I'm getting frustrated....
I have a PAL Wii with 4.0E and Bootmii + the Homebrew Channel and a fake WiiKey 1.9g

I'm a very tech savvy guy, yet Wii Homebrew was always beyond my understanding, it's like another language for me.

I don't really know what state my Wii is in, all I know:

I have BootMii installed on Boot2
I have a Fake WiiKey
I have 4.0E
And I know ages ago I installed a cIOS, I think it was 249.

So ever since my MBR incident I had a spare 80GB drive and bought a enclosure today, hooked it up to the outer USB port of my Wii and looked for a tutorial to play games off my HDD.

I found one, the tutorial was dated August 1 2010, fairly recent I thought and downloaded the provided USB Loader GX.

Loaded it and to my surprise it instantly detected my 80GB HDD. All fine, tossed in my Galaxy 2 Disk and it offered me to install the game, how nice!

Did that, then tried to boot from HDD and boom error 002.... Okay restart, looked at the settings and enabled the 002 fix. Starting game again..... Error 001....

Bleh this does not happen if I let my Wiikey handle it and google does not help^^'

So anyone can tell me how I can prevent Error 001 on USB Loader GX?

What cIOS249 do you have installed??? each one has a Rev # (build # you could say) Knowing what Rev you have would help, maybe you just need a newer one.

Have you tried updating USBLoader Gx to the lastest build as well?

SkyDX messed up BIG time:

At the start I only has IOS 249 rev 10. old I know.... HDD was detected, Error 001
Then I ran cIOS 38 r17 installer because it came with my USB Loader GX

From that point onwards USB Loader GX would never detect my HDD again

Following Squees patient instructions, I ran cIOS 249 rev 20 installer, HDD still not detected

he now on latest 249 rev 20b
installed hermes ios

still not loading
this is all he has by the way no trucha bugs nothing
no darkcorp or anything

And in addition, IT DAMMED WORKED with 249 rev 10 and again, the no detection mess started with cIOS 38 r17 which installed in 249

So it seems whatever made detection WORKING was my IOS249 rev 10

Update: Have Dark Corp 1.1 now, USB HDD detected again.
I can install games on it just fine, but whenever I press A on a game in the list my Wii semi freezes.
That means:

Pointer still moves
music still plays
but no reaction anywhere, also during that, my HDD is doing constant spin up noises....

Any ideas?^^'
