[Guide] How to Copy Dual Layer DVDs w/ CSS protection
How to Copy Dual Layer DVDs with CSS protection onto a Single Layer Disc

programs you'll need:
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
ImgBurn

first you pop your DVD in.

now start up DVD Decrypter
[Image: 1.jpg]

you will need to change the mode of DVD Decrypter to Read mode. to do this click "Mode" at the top, then go down to ISO , and finally click on "Read"

DVD Decrypter will automatically load the DVD and info.

DVD Decrypter's default destination for the ISO is the root of your hard drive. i always change it to the desktop.

now press the "dvd > harddrive" pic to begin the rip
[Image: 4.jpg]

Phase 1 of 3 has started. my computer takes about 30 minutes for this step (may differ for better and worse computers)

once its done a funky tune will go off and window will pop up, just press ok and close
[Image: 6.jpg]

you can now remove your DVD. its no longer needed

Okay now start up DVD Shrink
[Image: 7.jpg]

click and drag your new ISO file over to DVD Shrink
[Image: 8.jpg]

DVD Shrink will automatically analyze the ISO
[Image: 9.jpg]

now click on the "back up" button near the top
[Image: 10.jpg]

another window will pop up, you can direct where you want your new compressed ISO to go. i always leave it at the default, documents and press ok
[Image: 11.jpg]

DVD Shrink will begin encoding the file. this step usually takes about 35 minutes for me.

Once finished you will hear a "ting" and a window will pop up. just press ok and close DVD Shrink
[Image: 13.jpg]

Insert blank single layer (4.7gb)

now locate your newly compressed ISO and right click it. now choose the option "burn using ImgBurn" which should be near the top
[Image: 14.jpg]

ImgBurn will start up. Press the "ISO file > DVD" button near the bottom left side.

Phase 3 of 3 has started. ImgBurn will now burn the ISO file to your DVD. this part usually takes about 15 minutes on my computer.

*you may not need to do this step
for some reason ImgBurn pops open the disc tray and you must close it and press ok for the disc to finalize (this doesn't happen on all computers, and probably just mine :/ )

Img will continue to finalize the DVD, takes about another 5 minutes
[Image: 18.jpg]

once done you will hear another funky jingle, and a window will pop up. just press ok and close
[Image: 19.jpg]

you are now done. enjoy your newly bootlegged DVD.
i understand there are other ways of doing this, but i found this to be the simplest way of going about it.
i havent watched these dvd's ive copied on an HD tv so i havent noticed any loss of quality. im sorry if this occurs, and if it does please note here.
please tell me if you feel i left something out or if a part is confusing and needs more input.

hope someone can put use to this ^_^'

If you want to rip as ISO, you will also need to change the mods to ISO read mode.  Mode » ISO » Read.

The default is file mode I think, I generally use IFO mode.

Are you using a laptop?  Most laptop drives can't close by themselves.

yeah i believe your right but you only need to change it once if you only use it for ripping
i will add that into it though, thank you

added :D

@ the dvd tray, ahh now i understand what its trying to say. i thought it meant it tried to keep it closed but my laptop superior powers still manhandled the tray open :P

RE: [Guide] How to Copy Dual Layer DVDs w/ CSS protection
Stuff I do:
- remove PUOs (prohibited user operations) when ripping with DVD Decrypter, although DVD Shrink will remove them too if you end up using that
- lower read retries - usually only get errors from bad discs, so not terribly much point wasting time trying to always retry bad sectors

DVD Shink:
- my LG DVDs can hold up to 4489MB - I generally set the destination size to be ~4486MB; I believe DVD Shrink defaults to around 4465MB (I leave some space for copying jacket files etc)
- go through and lower quality to stuff like the copyright warnings etc - they just waste space IMO
- do same for trailers (but if there's one you like, then don't do it)
- shrink to a folder, rather than an ISO; enable the analyse option, as well as the AEC sharp option
- once done, copy the JACKET_P folder (if there is one) from the dumped ISO into the folder into where you saved the shrinked files
- burn using Nero (maybe ImgBurn can do it, IDK)

Screw Any DVD.

Sif you want to permanently run shit in the background just to be able to rip DVDs, which DVD Decryptor get done easily with no effort.

2 paid programs vs 1 free program, go figure.
