Intel Core i7 930 or AMD Phenom II X6 1055T?
I can't decide :7
Do you mean the AMD 1090T (more comparable in price to the i7 930) instead of the 1055T?
Read some reviews...
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3674/amds-...reviewed/1
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-...,2613.html
Also, if you're planning on getting a 930, you may as well get the socket 1156 version, save you money on the motherboard and RAM, for nearly no performance cost.
I better check the prices again cause the 1055 was the closest price when I checked..
I also read a few reviews but still can't decide v_v
Thanks for the idea on the Socket.. I'll see what my options are.

I'll take it the i7 860 is your recommendation then ^^'
No, he's obviously saying the 750 is better. Turbo boost is useless if you're overclocking and hyperthreading doesn't even make up to close the 35% cost gap.

The 1090T costs like $10 more than the i7 930, but you will more than easily make up that difference because AMD motherboard/RAM is cheaper.
The 1055T should be much cheaper than the i7 930 (should be around the same price as a i5 750).

I was asking about an i7 CPU. Never looked into i5s, didn't know they were quad-core processors. Looking at it I see what you mean.. I guess the extra money can be spent on cooling and pushing it a little further with some nicer components.
Heatsink-wise I like the look of the "Sunbeam 92mm Core Contact Freezer CPU Cooler". Looks like theres a bracket available for the i5 socket too ^^ - http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/cool...re-i5.html

Not really, you can't really get the i5 750 to go faster than the i7 930 (especially in encoding, because in that, hyperthreading actually helps). They both have similar overclocking potential, so if you overclock both, the 930 is still faster. i5 can supposedly overclock to around 4GHz (if you're a hardcore overclocker), which is pretty damn good considering it starts at 2.66GHz.
He's purely thinking in a performance/cost sense.
Also, in a similar sense, the AMD 1055T (which costs about the same as an i5 750) is better price value than a 1090T, especially if you're going to overclock (supposedly you can overclock to 4GHz with like no effort, which surprised me, but his CPU fan doesn look quite expensive).

RE: Spec Suggestions
Noctua NH-D14... indeed it's fudgein massive and its $90... kept it cool though ^^'
it's indeed an impressive overclocker (the 1055T) and 6 cores at 4GHz is pretty damn impressive considering how easy he did it on air. I don't think I've read about i7-930s going higher than 4.0/4.1GHz on Air though the Intels do better on the Benchmarks..
Hmm... $100 is a good saving. [Check out the listing of the 1090T here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u...0T&x=0&y=0 - says $399 but click "5 new" and it says $299 from Amazon - hence my confusion.. double you tee eff?]

RE: Spec Suggestions
I'd personally go for an i7 860 over a 1090T.
For 1055T vs i5 750, that's more your choice, though probably side with the 1055T a little more since it includes Turbo Core.

RE: Spec Suggestions
Ah, the 1366-pins support full dual 16x PCI-E slots.. which is great in terms of future expansion.
On the other hand, the motherboards are indeed crazy expensive!

Do you see yourself ever using dual GPUs?
Also, socket 1366 becomes obsolete when Intel's new line comes this Q4 or next year, they're changing sockets (again).
