I just had some thoughts about the PSP, I'm not very knowledgeable about it's internal workings but I know that wee can't play KH: Birth by Sleep for example because it needs some functions of the 6.xx kernel. That's of course is a real bummer because I want to buy it when it comes out. Yeah sure I could upgrade to 6.xx OFW and then downgrade back but that would be a pain in the butt...

I'm also aware that a 6.xx CFW would be questionable if possible since apparently every homebrew would be need to rewritten for the new kernel.

So what about some old stuff? Back in the days wee had DevHook to run/emulate a higher FW from our memory sticks. Sure CFW is convenient but maybe wee got a bit too used to the concept, or is there anything in 6.xx that would prevent it from being emulated?

I know wee have the problem of the IPLs but I don't know if these also apply to a FW being emulated....

Would love to hear something about this from the PSP pros Hihi

hmz.

DevHook was, as an application, probably my favorite ever released on PSP.. simply because of how useful how it was.

Though a program like this will probably never be developed for the PSP again. [with the FAIL of the PSPgo killing the future of the wonders of the PSP dead]

I suppose you're suggesting an installable portion of the 6.xx kernel.. much like the 1.50 kernel for fat PSPs. Probably possible... lets see if anyone who likes Kingdom Hearts enough with a CFW PSP tries to have a go at it.

Edit: Then again the game itself will probably get a hack patch.

I've said it a few times now, wee need a way to emulate OFW in service mode like how wee run 5.00 M33 from DC8. I spend a lot of time using the XMB with CFW, but very little in OFW. So, if wee can run a OFW from the MS to play UMD's and PSN games. Yeah, running PSN from the MS will suck, but over all the best way to fix the problem.

You got me right xero, running a whole OFW from a Memorystick is probably way easier then making a 6.xx CFW.
I meant the whole FW Sensei, not just the kernel :P

solder in two OS EEPROMs (6.xx and 5.5x)
and put in a switch on the grounds of those EEPROMs
flick the switch and choose your OS

what just get Undiluted Platinum? Does that even work anymore? [Probably does on older Phat models...]

Not sure i should tell this,. also i dunno if it will evar be made,. but,.. i think a kind of devhook was being develepd for 600 ofw,. Hmmm
