psp bricked but pandora not working
i don't know how it happened but i turned my psp on this morning and bam. bricked.

i wasn't that scared cause i had pandora but when i try to use it during the formatting of the flashes it shuts down suddenly. i tried hellcats recovery pandora. shutdown.

tried the regular ddcv7. shutdown.

tried restoring it to official firmware. shutdown.

this has never happened before and i was messing around last night seeing if i could get devhook to work on a slim but that shouldnt have done anything.
it was on 5.00 m33-4. slim, ddc5 said it was a ta-085 v2 mobo and i was sure it was because i couldnt make a pandoras battery. but ddc7 says its a ta-88

I can't think of anything its a very weird thing, have you tried it with the ac plugged in, to make sure its not a faulty battery also im sure ta-88 can't create a pandora either =\

RE: psp bricked but pandora not working
tried nearly everything i could think of. tried without battery in, tried regular battery. when pandora starts, everything goes well until the formmatting of the flashes. flash 0 usually goes fine but it hangs and then shuts down on formatting flash 1

RE: psp bricked but pandora not working
maybe your psp has a bad sector in the flash. when its formatting the flash its maybe reaching this bad sector and, not knowing what else to do, the psp just shuts down.

I know its completely unrelated but i was repairing a friends laptop which had a hard drive that was on its last legs. when re installing xp it would get so far, hit a bad sector on the hard drive and freeze. Flash memory eventually wears out. any sectors that are written to more than 1000-ish times just stop working. Maybe that's what's happened.

RE: psp bricked but pandora not working
its a rather larger number than 1000 i assure you

I doubt its worn out, but since its now died you can't use chkdsk to check for errors and sort them, so i can't suggest much other than Scream and Panic??

Or microwave and video camera, always helps

RE: psp bricked but pandora not working
you can run the 4.01 M33 off of the memstick with dc7 right ?
its for a problem like this that dax added it, if you can't install it couldn't someone upload it..

also you tried this ?
DAX Wrote:- Lflash format (in nand operations menu)

This function performs a physical format of the lflash, creates the 4 partitions again, with the
user desired sizes (by default, they are set to the default of that system), and then performs
a logical format of the 4 partitions.

RE: psp bricked but pandora not working
i have used lflash in ddcv8 and it worked! pandora ran successfully. but now theres another problem.

the memory stick is not being recognized anymore, well, it knows its there, it shows the memstick icon but when i go into it it says there are no games. if i go into the music tab and go into memstick there and return to the game tab the games show up, but when i launch homebrew i get an error.
i think that it loses memstick connection when a game is launched because i can load isos but then it says no gamesave, but if i remove the memstick and then put it back in it sees the gamesave.

its not the memstick because everything works fine if i use timemachine to launch 3.60M33.

i dumped the nand to see if there were bad blocks and there were.

bad block at 4082

EDIT: update, it IS the memstick, tried it with another memstick and everything ran fine, no problems. thank god for dark alex. thanks for the help, especially for the tip with Lflash J_G_

ive been thinking of getting an 8g stick anyway. ive heard there are problems with them, are there?
