Mostly, I just borrow DVDs off them, burn, then return.

im wondering, could someone ship me some anime dvd's? :P (then again that is an awkward/stupid idea, considering the fact that you have to pay money for shipping and DVD's xD)

You know what's really annoying? People never say they watch anime, that's why conventions and forums exist, so people who know the subject go to them and meet others who like it too. I KNOW there has to be people who watch anime in my community; i just don't know who

and its really awkward to ask random people if they do :P

There's almost no conventions where I am. (Canberra isn't big enough I guess. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane has them). I've never been to an anime convention. I guess if I really want, I can fly myself to Melbourne or something, to go to one, but I'm not "fan" enough to do that. (Meh, I'm only a casual watcher. Only watched like 25 things in like 4+ years).

my downloads always seem to hit 50~150 kB's

but most of the time its somewhere in the middle of those two numbers

E.G. Fate/Stay night took me 4 days to download (considering i dled at night only and the torrent was good) after that, i just stopped bothering to wait for an anime to finish and ended up streaming it )

That's not bad. Well, compared to what I have at home.

At home, it takes just about an hour to download 100MB. Although I can go to the public library, and that 1hr becomes about 2 minutes.

I generally don't mind waiting at all. I'm not the type to keep up with new releases anyway.
