It would not work. There are 2 interlocking rings, and if none of them breaks, logic/mathematics/everything else  dictates there is no way without cheating to seperate them.

Thus it is a trick question, thus try to think of trick answers instead. (Which is why i never botherd for 1 minute to try and figure it out, i hate trick questions)

i say forget about it, it's a waste of time.
