Possibly.. but by the time comes that I need one there in all likeliness will be a reason to replace the main GPU anyway.
Grrr...
I'm pretty happy with the idea of getting the ASUS P6T SE & Intel Core i7-920 at the moment.. and the newest Titan Fenrir Evo cooler when it comes out and if all is done right achieve a 4GHz clock.. if what I've been reading is right.
Well its all speculative as I'm not looking to get any parts till later this year so.. that's it for now ^^

Also, socket 1366 becomes obsolete when Intel's new line comes this Q4 or next year, they're changing sockets (again).
which isn't that bad because when it comes to the point when you need a new CPU, you may as well build a new complete rig
I'm just saying it doesn't have any more of an upgrade path than socket 1156 does. The only advantage is 3 channel RAM vs 2 channel (which has been tested to give quite negligible speed improvements), and that dual GPU thing Sensei was talking about (which is useless if you don't plan on getting dual GPU).
While 1366 is craploads more expensive than 1156, both the motherboard and RAM (you may as well upgrade your GPU NOW, with the money you save, instead of hoping for a dual GPU upgrade in the future).
Which is why both Zinga and I recommended the i7 860 over the 920. But meh, whatever, your money not mine, I'm not going to bother wasting any more effort on this as it really isn't anything to do with me.

RE: Spec Suggestions
Well the board Proper uses isn't too expensive for a 1366, and looking at the spec shit, it makes a lot of sense, hence why I think its a good option too.
I thought Dual-GPU would be a nice option to have and as I plan on getting ATi - the lack of SLi on the board doesn't affect me at all.
Plus, by the time comes wee could see prices drop more.
And I do appreciate your input Assassinator, gives me more to think about ^^

^ I know lol, that's why I said "as I plan on getting ATi - the lack of SLi on the board doesn't affect me at all." because most 1366 based boards are SLi/Crossfire compatible ^^

RE: Spec Suggestions
What about the AMD boards?
I've never heard people with issues with a 5970 on a non-1366 motherboard...

Because they don't. Only when you want to go 5870/5850 x2 Crossfire.
What about 5770/5750/whatever x2? That's pointless because you should just get a single 5870/5850 instead. In that respect, even 5870/5850 x2 is pointless, because you should just get a 5970 instead. So all in all, very pointless, unless you want to go 5970 x2, which is even more pointless because it's so overkill. EDIT: Oh, you can go 5970 x3 too!

RE: Spec Suggestions
Well, the 5970 goes through one PCIe slot, meaning that the additional bandwidth is really unnecessary.
I'm guessing it's like most things in computers - not limited by bandwidth, but limited by latency.

RE: Spec Suggestions
Hmm. These are the components I fancy at the moment... I'll probably start buying stuff in August.
Motherboard: ASUS P6T SE - Price: £145
CPU: Intel Core i7-920 (2.66GHz 8 MB LGA1366) - Price: £188
Air Cooling: Titan Fenrir (Not released yet >_>) - Price: £30~
Graphics: XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB - Price: £130
Storage HDD: Samsung HD103SJ 1 TB 32 MB 7200RPM SATA - Price: £50
Wondering if getting a small SSD for the Windows 7 would actually be worth it..
Edit: Need to find a case

If you have the money to spend, why not?
I mean it'll be a better investment than spending £40 on a fan in any case.
