RE: Downgraded to 3GB Of RAM
it's been done and there are tuts on how to do it, i don't know if they work on the new models but a few laptops and desktops had their bios hacked with software, i am sure hardware would work too

RE: Downgraded to 3GB Of RAM
I have a better solution:

Take a hammer and smash the freaking mobo to bits, go out and get yourself a mobo that is actually good. Yes, I am aware that many will find this to be an inefficient way.

no actually that's brilliant... some guy i know asked me how to erase files and i told him to get a sledge hammer and smash it to bits... sarcasm is funny

ive only ever heard/seen of them limiting the amount of ram the mobo can use period... not what each slot can handle... my mobo will only use 2gigs of ram no matter what configuration i install the ram in.... one thing i do is make sure the contacts on the ram are clean and not have skin oil on them by cleaning them off with rubbing alcohol... just the contacts and use very little liquid on a rag that leaves no fibers behind... don't use a paper towel... don't listen to me im not really an expert... i just know how to put the peices together

Sure, if you prefer technology over brute strength...

yea, they have the motherboards custom made with bios to match

I think they are back on the regular micro-atx and atx standard
they used to use their own standard, I had it in my old dimension 4550
