true, it would open the door to all kinds of piracy problems for sony. the only way they would be able to keep control of the situation would be to bury the software in super-tight DRM which would just put people off.

i buy my umd games, only downloadable i have is echochrome.

i prefer umd's, so i won't be bother with space.

What about the game size? Many are small like 200MB, but the good ones like crisis core took up the full umd, about 1.59GB. Not all people have enough memory to have the games on the card.

I actually like paying for content, if I think it's worth it. PSN DRM is already fairly lax, plus, who even has 5 PSP's to put stuff on?

Also, I'd much rather have a digital copy of something that can be backed up to multiple locations, rather than a disc that can easily break, get damaged, or get lost.

If they did this, AND added an XMB icon to directly access the store, I'll definitely buy stuff.

good point.

i think even with DRM this will just make piracy just a bit easier. IMO
wee all know sony has had a iso loader in the psp for some time now
that works excellent!

I also thought of the same thing. I was wondering how they'd let you keep the game once you downloaded it. If they let you download it to your computer, then it would be obvious that piracy issues would increase easily. If they only let it go straight to the PSP, then memory problems would seem obvious. I kept wrapping my brain around how it'd work, even considering how little I know about such things, I was having trouble coming up with the "safest" way they would go about it. Of course, there may be no truth to it.

I don't think this will help piracy really. There's not much stopping you from buying a UMD and ripping it... In fact, it may be easier to rip a UMD than remove DRM.

Another reason why this is good is because, it means more game time as you don't have the PSP reading the UMD constantly.
