Generally, imaging and emulating the CD will work.  Though many games these days install all the content to your HDD, so that the CD/DVD is only there for verification (and annoyance) purposes.

Anyway, I suggest Alcohol 120% to image (note, it's not free, but you can get a free trial) and Daemon Tools to mount the image.
