Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core, First Thoughts.
Ok, I've been playing this now for a couple of hours so I have enough of an idea about how the game plays to give a few initial impressions the first of which is that I really need to brush up on my ability to read Japanese. Listening to the audio I have no problem with (thankfully there is quite alot of audio so I'm able to follow the story) but reading the early guides on how to play the game became a simple game of trial and error.
At the minute this seems like a great game, the fight system works really well (x is your attack/action button, you switch through you actions using the shoulder button so you can quickly switch from attacking with your sword to casting blizzaga, if you have it equipped. Square is for dodge/defend, the whole system flows quite well the only thing I don't really agree with is the D.M.W system for the boosts/limit breaks, this would have worked better as a combo system I think.
Graphically it's among the best on the PSP, though games like Brave Story are a bit shinier, though when should Midgar ever look shiny?
The menu system as well as having the normal options for equipping you materia, and viewing your stat, etc also lets you view your email's (instructions and hints about what to do next, though not much good to me as I can't really understand most of it.) as well as buy things straight from the menu, which means no having to go look for a shop selleing potions when you are running low. There is also a screen to show your D.M.W (the boost system I mentioned earlier) stat's, how many you have unlocked, used, %of use, etc.
I would have posted some screenshots for this but I'm running the game off usbhost and if I try to save a screenshot the whole thing just locks up, does anyone know of a way round that?
Anyway I'll post some more when I understand what this random guard is trying to tell me to do.....
