So the drama that is the US economy has been all over the news recently - although I think it would make an excellent TV series, I don't have the resources to start such a thing, so I'll just post a thread here.
So what's happening?
Yo dawg, I heard the US goverment likes borrowing, so they funded their loans with loans so they could borrow while they borrow.
And S&P was like, fcking awesome dude, ur debt is like "omfg super awesome" (previously "omfg ultra awesome").
In response, investors sold off their investments, and decided to become gold miners.
Outside of the US, people in London recently decided to blow up what little they had left, in an attempt to improve their economy (or social welfare).
European businesses have found that downward sloping stock graphs to be aesthetically pleasing, and Europeans are trying to push the success of this new fad onto international markets.
Oh, another thing - if all this poo poo in the news is annoying, but you still want to keep track of what's going on, you can find a "real time" (not really) numerical outline
here.
