It might be difficult to convince you, but one bad product is unlikely to be the norm.  Say, if a Dell laptop blew up on you (For your information there was a big fiasco on that a few years back), would you stop trusting Dell? (aka biggest computer distributor)
For one thing, companies do an incentive to make good quality products or they'll get slogged with returns.  I personally wouldn't call Archos "small" either...
