Hehe, yeah, that was bad, especially considering that AVC support was added in FW2.00...  Though, if, for some reason, that video used AAC SBR or PS (haven't actually seen any), then 2.80 would be required.

Not really - Sony never actually adds anything good - apart from FW2.00 (was actually a significant upgrade) and the PSX emulator.  Otherwise, all their additions were basically poo poo.
