The raw muxes aren't like
THAT bad actually. Raws aren't the most efficiently encoded files in the world, but they won't give you eye cancer.
The really bad stuff happen when the "encoders" think they know w
tf they're doing, but actually don't know poo poo.
Here's some examples, from 1 single anime. (Best save pics down onto your HDD, and look at them there. The web browser seems to distort them a bit)
W
TF blur + Upsize (DVD Source » 720p)
What it's supposed to be. [This is from another fansub group (Sensei once tried to make a group), never released (I was encoding for them, so my encode).] Resized 720x480 » 853x480 for this comparison (was anamorphic soft-resize in the encode).
I don't even know what to say for this one... The raws definitely aren't like that. See the next pic below.
What it's supposed to be like. A superior encode by another group (who actually knows how to encode... and it was a never-heard-of-before group too).
I heard lines are evil, and must be exterminated at all costs, amirite? amirite? amirite?
AND on top of that, all of these encodes, besides for looking like poo poo, are also wrongly decimated (that is, wrong fps), so they don't even play smoothly, and will jutter.
I mean seriously, I'd watch remuxed raws anyday over that encoderfail. I bet my sister, using a 1-click-GUI, can encode better than their "encoders". Srsly "encoders", give up encoding, muxing raws is much easier, and also gives better results.
So if you want to download Sekirei, download the Titanium version. The rest all suck donkey. (Or the new group, if Sensei ever bothers to time and typeset the rest of the s
hit. If it ever does, I can promise you a decent encode though.)
EDIT: fixed broken links
