Not just the initial boot, it will make launching most applications (including games) faster.  Same concept, you need to read a whole lot of shit into memory before the app launches.

$220 added up for a processor and a harddrive is unrealistically low.  That's about as useful an argument as if I were to say, $800CPU + $200SSD > $1000CPU, which is useless.


If you really want to save money, cheap out on the PSU.  Buying an expensive PSU is pointless imo, just get the cheapest thing you can find that isn't absolutely terrible.  I mean like buy a case that comes with a PSU, saves a load of money.

SSD's are great for anything that requires constant access to files on the drive and they're pretty damn cheap too for what you need them for, booting and common programs.

I don't know why some people are arguing their price, the biggest SSD that you should get that'll fulfil 80% of what you're looking for is a 64 GB SSD, which, not too long ago retailed for 55$ here in Canada.

You can get a fudgehueg SSD for not a whole lot more (100 would get you 128GB last I checked) but this is only relevant if you run huge games off your SSD, which fine too.

Memory/data access is always a bottleneck on computers, if you want a fast system, then all the parts need to work together to accomplish this.
