Well I thought, if Assassinator thinks it's superior anime then it must be good :D

And yes, it is good, very very good.

RE: AniList 3/Anime Chatter with Senseito
Finished Skip Beat.

double you tee eff is it with anime adaptations shoujo manga?

Nana, Nodame Cantabile and Skip Beat have inconclusive endings and that's one thing they all have in common.

Yes, the manga carries on in all cases (except for Nodame Cantabile, which has finished I believe but I don't know how far it goes after the Finale storyline) but the lack of continuation is somewhat hurtful.

Rather than whine over that, Skip Beat was actually pretty good. It's comedy was great, I found myself laughing very often throughout it's 25-episode run but there is one part it falters with. Romance.

Sadly, while they try to make it, the curse of stereotypical idiocy for romance anime protagonists is especially evident here and basically leads to what feels like nothing by the time it's over. Worse still, sometimes the dialogue is over-extended and tiresome and I did find myself falling asleep in one or two episodes. Not good.

Thankfully there's enough of an interesting plot (becoming a star) that it makes watching Skip Beat worthwhile - saving it from being another shallow entry in the RomCom arena.

TL;DR - Great comedy, lukewarm romance, nice feel-good story and good plot.

Kara no Kyoukai: Epilogue - After Thoughts
Just finished Kara no Kyoukai: Epilogue and found myself speechless.. with no need to speak but merely think about what was discussed.

Yes, it was an hour and a half conversation, but one that I feel I appreciated a lot more than some of the other people who have seen the KnK films - maybe it's because they talked about things I've contemplated too many times before, but with greater understanding?

Theres no doubt there will be people who are hyper-critical about this one, but in my mind I haven't felt this way since Clannad After Story. That kind of appreciation - that I'm genuinely thankful for being able to see it - and treasure it as much as my very favorite titles are along with the 7 films that preceded it.

If anyone has any thoughts on this as well, please share. I'd like to know I wasn't the only one who at the very least appreciated it.

RE: AniList 3/Anime Chatter with Senseito
This is the only thing I currently know about it...

[02:54] <@TheFluff> the epilogue uses 3x the bitrate of knk movie 4 at the same crf
[02:54] <@TheFluff> despite being only talking heads all the way through

He should've just bumped up the crf then.  >.>.  I don't like downloading 1.2GB for just talking heads.

I'll talk more when I download and watch it.

EDIT: and the other movies taking ages may be because of the fact that gg is re-timing and re-editing the script with help from the official subs, rather than the encode, pretty sure most of the encodes would be done by now.

I'll look forward to your comments.

Makes sense. I'm looking forward to the releases though I'll probably end up getting the boxset eventually.

This isn't Mirai Fukuin?  But that's not all that surprising, seeing as Mirai Fukuin probably isn't just talking heads.

Though I may want to go through some of the parts again to understand it more, I definitely didn't feel anything like you felt.

This feels similar to that comment some guy on VNDB made about Cross+Channel.

"I guess its only the people with intrapersonal and/or interpersonal intelligence that fully grasp the sublimity of this VN. What a disappointing society..."

That totally pissed me off for a few minutes, before I thought more into it and realized, what he's saying probably has truth in it (and isn't simply bashing others), which then sort of pissed  me off in a different way....

Cross+Channel is pretty much one of these things that focus much more heavily on Characterization than plot.  And I thought it was mostly boring except for some specific parts and the ending.  And while I liked Cross+Channel's ending, I feel that's a only a "shallow" sort of surface like, and different from what he (that guy from VNDB), and without doubt many other, saw in it.

So is it my average (or less-than-average) understanding of people, feelings, the non-scientific side of the mind and heart, that has failed me in seeing the true excellence within that which is one of the highest rated VNs (currently 11th on EGS discounting duplicates), and is considered an absolute masterpiece by many?

Including Kinoko Nasu (who wrote Kara no Kyoukai which wee were just talking about)
Spoiler for Nasu on Cross+Channel:
There is nothing to say about this.
I had a hunch about it, but I didn’t expect it to be this good.

    CROSS†CHANNEL (FlyingShine)

I’ll make this my family heirloom.
It’s both my good fortune and bad luck that I would meet this work which now reigns as an absolute and insurmountable wall.

Anyway the game is too amazing so everybody please play it! Oh man, I know saying all this is like I’m strangling my own neck, but I can’t stop myself from recommending it!

And he asked me...

Have you ever measured the depth of your self?
Do you find worth for the people around you?
Are you interested in "humans"?

And I could not answer him.  Because "yes" would be a huge lie.  "Maybe" at most, even that would be slightly pushing it.

On a different note, that kid's arc in Bakemonogatari is boring the fuck out of me, hope it gets better later on...

Uh, what? There are two kids, the middle schooler and elementary schooler. So I can't quite be sure which one you're talking about.

Okay, I'll admit that, that was the worse arc but it didn't bore me though.
