Yeah I don't really consider it as a fail because some languages don't have direct translations for certain words so you have to settle with a word that closely resembles the word. Like 'love' and 'like'

McDonald's promoted the phrase in multiple languages, and in German it translates to "Ich liebe es," and in which case "liebe" doesn't necessarily translate directly to love, it could also mean like. Also there is no shortened version of "liebe" to match that of the "lovin'" part, so that could be counted as another sort of fail. So "mag" could mean love or like, it all depends on the speaker's/translater's preference.
