Hardships with icons (Again!!!)
Okay I've been getting some help with making icons and I was hoping I wouldn't need to ask for help again.
well I was totally wrong...
Anyway I've been following THIS tutorial and I've did every single step and my icon turns invisible.
now I'm using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 so when I try to save the icon in RGB format it forces me to use 24-bit (which ZiNgABuRgA's RCO Editor doesn't support)
so I make the image an index format and save it as an 8-bit bitmap. (because photoshop forces me to)
so does this technique only work when making 32-bit bitmaps or am I doing something wrong or what?
many thankings are in the advanced.

RE: Hardships with icons (Again!!!)
That guide's old...
Save as a PNG if possible.
If on 3.71:
- make sure all images are uncompressed
- topmenu must be below some certain size (can't remember)

RE: Hardships with icons (Again!!!)
If you got the cut out image you can use png its the easiest way but i find that the icon's don't look as good using when using bmp's with alpha channel,.
Making a bmp:

the max size of topmenu_icon.rco is about 525 kb maybe a little higher,.

Yes I got it to work, thanks (again) guys.
this will hopefully be the last time I ask help for a problem that's XMB customization related.

That's interesting.
RCO Editor actually internally converts PNGs to a 32 bit BMP...
Hmm...

RE: Hardships with icons (Again!!!)
Maybe the PNG decompression in RCOEdit is playing up... or your PNG is >256 colours and its dithering. Could you elaborate on how they look better maybe? If you could be bothered... post two screenshots (one PNG one BMP, or don't say and make us guess :P) with a flat black background? I'm yet to try it and can't yet until i unbrick/pandora my PSP...
