RE: computer problems
look in the bios manual for an item called bootscreen, easyboot or something similar to that. if you have no luck post the make and model of your motherboard and ill see if it has the feature to hide the text.

RE: computer problems
well from what i have seen it is this  Asus
A7V8X, at least that's what it has when i boot the pc up and look at the contraption that's loads,i looked for anything that had boot screen, easy boot and i found nothing, but if it's in there it may well be under a different name, i just don't know anything about motherboards and stuff like that, is the proccessor the same as the motherboard???in the device manager, it has the proccessor as a AMD athlon xp 2000+

All old computers will show it (not saying your computer is old).
I don't see why you just can't ignore it.  It's not going to destroy your computer.

Anger is suggesting how to hide it, but all you can do is chuck a picture over the top of the text.  Typically, the picture looks really bad anyway - is that what you're trying to do?
I prefer having text instead of the image cause you can actually tell if something goes wrong during POST.
This won't affect startup speed at all either.

I think ASUS boards can display a logo instead of text - enter the BIOS setup and there's usually an option to turn on the logo display.

pspfreak Wrote:i clicked on (start, shutdown and that was it
No, that is not it because Windows will pop up with a dialog box when you go Start » Shutdown.
From the dialog box you select whether you want to Standby, Hibernate, Restart, Shutdown (full poweroff), Logoff etc.

pspfreak Wrote:i had hibernate and standby turned off on it as well
What does "turned off" mean?

RE: computer problems
ok zinga is exactly right - it is better to show the text so you can see if theres a problem but you can hide it on your machine.

here is how:
boot the machine - when it gets to the black screen with all the writing press del a few times till you get a blue/grey screen with options.
next press right cursor until boot is highlighted.
if no menu options are shown below boot press enter otherwise use the down arrow key to get to full screen logo - it should say disabled, press the + or - keys to change it to enabled.
press f10 - it should say do you want to save so just confirm that and that should do it.

this is your only option to hide the text if it really bothers you. good luck.

RE: computer problems
^ Do you have an ASUS board?  I've found though, even boards of the same company can have different BIOS setups.  Or you probably looked at the manual? :P

RE: [split] computer problems
that's what i did, i clicked on start, then it came up with the dialog box and i clicked on shutdown, then it said windows is shutting down and then every thing shut down, I'll live with  it like it is, thanks anger and zinga for taking the time to listen to my pc problems,it's not as bad as  i thought it would be and your'e both right it is better to let it show the post ,just in case something does go wrong, i would know, but even if it did, i wouldn't know how to fix it, as i don't have the windows xp cd, that's the worse part of  it,thanks again
