PSP Hard drive...
I'm a little bored so I've browsing around and came across the old idea to fit the psp with an internal hard drive. This is from back in the day when a 1gb MS cost an arm and a leg. I remember saving up for 3 months to buy a 512mb card, ended up with a fake that broke after a week, tried to return it but ebay coldnt contact the seller...
eeeeeeeeeeeeenyway, I came across this: PSPMOD forums. Read post #64
which lead me onto this: A whole load of readymade CF to MS adapters
The cheapest one there is $80 (2in1) which it says is claimed to be limited to 4gb. I know that since this was designed the psp's firmware is now able to support up to 32gb of storage. I reckon with a bit of 1337 h4x0ring i could wire up my old 30gb archos HDD which uses an IDE interface, which the adapter supports and stick it all to the back of my psp in an undignified and ugly way. I also have an 8gb microdrive lying around somewhere from a dead creative zen microphoto that i could just slot in without needing to mod anything at all.
theres also a 4in1 version that doesn't seem to have any size limitation at all, except for what the psp decides is enough.
any thoughts/ideas? Does anyone have one/ever tried this?
edit: just did a little more digging and apparently its easy to modify the 2in1 CF/MS (the cheapest one) adapter so that it doesn't have a 4gb limit, saving me $10!

I see nothing which mentions support for using a HDD. The item you are looking at is simply a memory card converter, and a huge one at that.. If you're looking for a HDD to use with the PSP, I recall AcidMods (I think) managed to install a 100 gb laptop HDD inside the PSP as a replacement for the UMD drive.
If anything, at the price that those things are being sold at right now, it would be more ideal to buy yourself a photofast dual microsd to MSPD converter to use and buy 2 16gb microsd cards. That would cost around 250$ plus tax at this moment and will not need a huge thing sticking out from the back of the psp.. But as for pricing, technology is changing fast and there is no doubt that the price of microsd 16gb will drop pretty fast...

RE: PSP Hard drive...
The card converter has a slot for a CF card. CF cards use either IDE or ATA (can switch between the two) as their interface. I have an old 30gb 1.8" hard drive, almost identical to the ones found in old ipods that uses an IDE or ATA (switchable) interface. The whole point of this excercise isn't to be pretty or practical, just cheap.
Also the Acidmods design gives you storage that can only be accessed through irshell and not the xmb. there is also speculation that its fake...

If it's not practical, why would you even spend money in the first place? Sure, it might be one of the first to work, but what would be the point of something that serves no purpose? Personally, with 100$, I would rather get myself a 16gb MSPD.
