Apple has lodged an audacious Australian trade mark application for the term ‘STARTUP’, covering a whole host of products and services.
The ‘STARTUP’ application was lodged yesterday, August 27, by the Californian headquarters of Apple and a Sydney-based legal representative, Baker & McKenzie.
If accepted, Apple would hold the trade mark of the word ‘STARTUP’ under various retail, computing, mobile and educational classes. Specifically:
Class 35: Retail store services, including retail store services featuring computers, computer software, computer peripherals, mobile phones, and consumer electronic devices, and demonstration of products relating thereto
Class 37: Maintenance, installation and repair of computer hardware, computer peripherals and consumer electronic devices; consulting services in the field of maintenance of computer hardware, computer peripherals, and consumer electronic devices
Class 41: Educational services, including conducting classes, workshops, conferences and seminars in the field of computers, computer software, computer peripherals, mobile phones, and consumer electronic devices and computer-related services; providing information in the field of education
Class 42: Design and development of computer hardware and software; technical support services, namely, troubleshooting of computer hardware and software problems; installation, maintenance and updating of computer software; technological consultancy services in the field of computers, computer software and consumer electronics; computer diagnostic services; computer data recovery
...
The trade mark application is at the very early status of ‘Filing – Approved’, meaning it has not been seen by an IP examiner.
Huh. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be off eating an oblate red temperate-tree-growing fruit.
Quote:Researchers at security software company ESET have found a remotely-updating DDOS functionality built into a popular Windows download manager, Orbit Downloader.
The DDOS function appears to have been in the program for some time. When the orbitdm.exe program is run, it starts a series of communications with the servers at orbitdownloader.com, the end result of which is that the client system silently downloads via HTTP a Win32 PE DLL and a configuration file containing a list of URLs and a randomly-generated IP address for each.
This program and the list are used to conduct either a SYN flood attack or a wave of HTTP connection requests on port 80 (the HTTP port) and UDP datagrams on port 53 (DNS). The IP address that accompanied the URL in the config file is used as the source address for the attack.
[...]
ESET expresses surprise that such an attack would be included in such a popular program. It is a distinct possibility that the company's web site has been compromised by an outside attacker who is using it and the software unbeknownst to the proprietors of Orbit Downloader.
At the time of this writing, a vulnerable version (4.1.1.18) was still available for download on the company's site, and the URLs used for downloading the attack code and config file were still live.
Hey guys don't know if you have already seen this...
I really don't know how it flew under my radar for so long.
Introducing PPSSPP. A PSP emulator for Windows, MAC, Linux, Android, iSO and much more.
This emulator is goddam INSANE. It allows you to play in HD resolutions, crank up the anisotropic and anti aliasing filtering plus the texture scaling. That's right you can play PSP games in native resolution. It's just the best thing.
I've had no trouble playing pretty much all my old games at full speed and with my PS3 controller acting as a game pad!
I've tried loads of PSP emulators before but nothing comes close to this one.
Don't believe me? Check out my in game screenshots screenshots:

whelp here it is whether you like it or not. So if you have the latest exploit or even an older one I recommend just staying put until it is known if the exploit is patched and what not.
So Dashhacks, PSX-Scene, and QJ have recently been compromised, and their databases are for sale on some seedy forums. Just thought I'd let members know in case any of you are still active on these sites and/or have account information there that's important.
Ok, so it's finally here, the final release of my recent Bleach project.
A lot of time and effort has gone into this, so I would really like your opinions on things, good and (hopefully not) bad, and in particular I'm curious as to which version will be the most popular (so if you're a member logged in, please come back and let me know which iteration comes out on top for you :D). These are, as you've probably guessed, for 5.00 M33, but I'm including all the icons with each theme, so you can make up in a different firmware if required. A quick jump into RCOedit, and you can mix and match spoon up if you're so inclined ;)
So, here are the screenies:
VERSION 1: CAPTAINS
^Coldboot.
^Background used, also showing flashy sub-icon. It's the Hogykoyu, and this is a different colour for each theme.
^Main icons, different colours used on 'original' theme setting, to show here clearly.
^Gameboot. As I recall, it's Yamamoto giving a bollocking!
VERSION 2: VICE CAPTAINS
^Coldboot. You can probably guess how the next one will look haha.
^Background used, also showing flashy sub-icon. Same deal, it's the Hogykoyu, but a different colour.
^Main icons.
^Gameboot. It's from one of those hilarious segments at the end of an episode. Yachiru is blabbing on about giving the winner of a competition a banana! Can see half of subs, nothing I can do about it, stuck with clip anyway, cause it's cool.
VERSION 3: ESPADA
^Coldboot. Yup.
^Background, red Hogykoyu sub-icon.
^Main icons.
^Gameboot. Grimmjow, Ulquiorra and stuff.
VERSION 4: GANG
^Coldboot.
^Background, etc.
^Main icons.
^Gameboot. Easily my best one here, and you will laugh when you see it.
VERSION 5: URAHARA
^Coldboot.
^Background and stuff.
^Main icons.
^Gameboot. Pure win.
VERSION 6: ICHIGO
^Coldboot. My first one, and it's beasty!!
^Background and stuff.
^Main icons.
^Gameboot. Ichigo's 1st Bankai.
...And with that (63 screenshots and a lot of faffing about), I stop there. Finished. Done. Ended. I await your thoughts EPers!!!!!
