Quote[Image: windlight.jpg]This low-key, wind-powered outdoor light seems like an ideal way to keep streets lit and energy green. The blades hang over about a meter on each side, so they're small enough that they could probably fit into an urban setting without hacking up any birds to boot. And even if it does take down a pigeon or two, I'd consider that a perk.

I could almost see these in Manhattan, where it's generally windy enough that they might generate enough energy to stay lit without too much assistance from the grid, while helping to keep the skies pigeon free. Win-win-win.

An outside lamp drawn from our home surroundings. The gently
sweeping Dutch windmills were actually perfect generators of their
own. With that in mind, wee made this lamp. With every breeze it
stores energy, enough to enjoy every summerevening untill
forever. Contemporary vs traditional, art vs functionality.
Shaped by its function the big prop spans over one meter on each
side. It is a self supporting light source that marks the landscape.

that's a cool way to generate energy for street lamps now if only they would use normal white clear light instead of those damn orangish lights, who cares if they interfere with Observatories visibility, that's why you build them in the countryside dumbasses, not in the middle of a damn suburb/city
haha double you tee eff
yeah right here in san diego theres damn orange-ish lights and it pisses me off when you can't see something clearly because of the colors blending, and they say its because of light interfering with visibility at the palomar mountain observatory like 20 miles away from here
double you tee eff
hahahahahah
Sustainable energy For the win :P
just wait

solar/wind energy powered lights
v
LED lights
v
advanced color changing LED lighting
v
street lights that double as bright OLED advertisements
HID headlights for all vehicles for the win!
I wonder how much it would cost to power street lamps with third-world children? Hmmm....
