I am running linux on my laptop. I want to get rid of it so i can install windows 2000 (my laptop is old). so all i want to do is format my main hard drive and install windows.

I don't have a CD drive or floppy disk drive. BUT i do have a big external hard drive from my desktop.

I don't know much about command prompt commands, so try to make everything as simple as possible.

Thanks in advance.

It won't let me format the drive while it's running. That's the big problem for me. If i could get my CD drive to work with my laptop, that'd be awesome, but i can't find a TUT on how to mount a cd drive.
there is a tute as to how you can install OS from an image.. let me find it for you..

EDIT: can't really find that version... just found this.

(this is similar to your case as even the Eee PC doesn't have cd/dvd drives....)
use your external hard drive? .
if it has an os in it :D
None of those help. I currently have edubuntu. I need to get rid of it so i can install windows 2000.

feinicks, thanks for those links, but those already assume that i have a windows based OS running. I'm going to try the second link, it looks promiseing.

@boogschd: i don't have an OS on my external, that would have been my first idea
