The iPod Touch is nice but I would recommend that you wait a bit. I would only but it if I could find it at a cheaper price (which is what I'm trying to do right now).
From what I've read you can jailbreak any firmware. I'm not sure what things you can play on it, but if you're interested you may ask LeifErikson over at PSP-Hacks or iPhone-Hacks, he is very well informed from what I've seen.

Good luck. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
Basically, you can do pretty much anything with the iPod touch now. They have the Installer application, which is like an App store, but almost everything's free, and then when 2.0 releases, you'll have the official Apple Program Store, with programs that run on the official SDK.

And Cesar, you can probably find one for pretty cheap (comparatively) online, like auction sites or Apple's refurbished section.

That's in Euros, right? That means that would be about $200. That's a really freaking good price.

Ah. Man, I'm retarded when it comes to other countries' currency. Anyway, that's awesome. Can you get 2, then I can buy one off you? :D lol jk
£150 is about $300 witht the rate at 1.8/1.9 or whatever it is. are they that expensive over ther? ive generally found the ipods in the US are roughly the same price as the UK, like myipod nano (2nd gen) was £129 here and it was about $150 over in the US and so i got mine from there as it works out to be about half the price from the US.

back on topic: sorry amzter i don't know much about the itouch.
does anyone know if ubuntu portable will run on an i touch? that would be quite cool.
Well, the 8GB is $300, but he's getting a 16GB, which is usually $100 more, for that price. He got a good deal
actually there a lot more over here, hes getting a good deal at 150 - were basically a second class country that gets the bums rush when it comes to pricing.
take a look at this - this is actually a reasonable price for it over here.

so him getting one for 150 is a 'borrow'. it is still much cheaper for us to import one even with shipping charges and the inevitable tax charges as well.
