That's EXACTLY the kind of attitude I want for this thread.

Also, graphics, music and video editing is like the only thing I use my computer for aside from stuff like web browsing and the occasional flash game like N. That's one reason why I prefer Macs. It does the kinds of things I do better.

Wee used to have a G5 iMac that I preferred to my own Dell XP machine, but it's basically broken right now. And price isn't really a concern for getting a Mac of my own, as my whole family wants to get me a Macbook Pro as a graduation present and for college :D Of course, if I want to get a desktop, that's a whole other story..... :(

Yeah, that is a bit of a problem. Most stores don't give you a choice. I mean, what is the world coming to when you have to pay to get Vista downgraded to XP?

And also, many Best Buy's have started a "mini Apple store" section, complete with the light wooden tables with Mac computers on display.

apple is the square root of epic fail

You do realize that is exactly the kind of thing I explicitly said NOT to say? This thread isn't about which is better, it's about why you like your OS of choice.

And the only Windows programs I NEED to use can most likely just be run in VMWare fusion. And same with the few games I play on PC, as those don't really have that high of system requirements.

yeah its kinda important to always read at the very least the first post in a thread

I would probably get linux, you don't have to pay for it and it's more customizable, when it comes down to it, you love what you have.. because you have it. Not because its the best or better.

You don't have to get a Mac to have Mac... well nowadays the hardware is pretty much the same in Macs like in normal PCs and you can install Mac OS X on a normal PC^^

As for myself I'm currently with Vista, it looks great and runs great for me, tried to install a few Linux Distro but GRUB always wouldn't boot them...
OSX is something I want to try in the future too.
^^ been trying that casually for a week now... "gathering" a different version from the "divine repository."
i suggest that people shouldnt upgrade to vista

give it two or three years, then upgrade

XP is going strong as the standard still

and mac osx? drives me nuts might consider trying it again but i won't any time soon
i say windows just because i have so much experience with it. but recently i decided to give ubuntu a go and i must say its quite something. it would probably work better on a 'normal' comuter rather than mine. for example, i have a widescreen monitor and an unusual grahpics and sound card. i couldn't change the resolution or refresh rate from the defaults and i couldn't get my soundcard to work. the onboard sound though worked straight away. if my computer was a little more 'normal' it probably would have worked better. I'm now giving Linux MCE a go and it works a lot better with my hardware setup than ubuntu. Also i like the fact tht you're able to play minesweeper whilst its installing!
