My solution.

vLite your Vista, it's what I did and it is running GREAT!

Currently, i don't have a network set up at home (my ISP is still AOL :'( and they still won't allow it unless you get there wireless package), and i have a laptop with vista which doesn't run any of my games very well
I am going to install XP gamers edition, since i don't have an XP CD to nlite myself, but everywhere i look, people say that the LAN drivers have been removed, and you can't create a network on it

Is there anyway, before or after the installation to insert these drivers so taht when my dad finally gets around to switching our ISP i can put my laptop into our LAN?

Roberth,

What version of Vista do you have ?  Certain versions have the ability ro back level to XP.  Of course if you have Basic you are SOL.  but Business, and ultimate can install XP Pro.  And for gaming that is the only one I would install.

Lane
Home Premium, so yeah im SOL i reckons
Im just gonna accept my laptop won't play games i think

@ diego:I can't vlite my recovery CD can i?

Right, i have a descision
Downlaod a new copy of Vista Home Premium (since my CD key is legit i can use that with a pirated ISO can't i?
Vlite the new copy, and install it over my old one

Anyone with a grain of sense see any issues?

I would check the Microsoft web site and see if you are able to backlevel to XP.  It might work.
Games like a Grrl Wrote:I keep hearing bad things about th eblack edition, mainly connected to the uploader, are there more than one version?  One upload I saw had warnings of a trojan (no, not a false positive that AVG gets) that connected to this guy's site, I dunno.  Get it from a place that has comments on it, read up on it.  Also, might want to check out Johnny's XP Ultimate, friend of mine installed it, has found very few issues with it.  Its based on sp3, so get the newest version if you look at it.

i got Black XP 6 from the piratebay. No trojans or anything detected. have had it in dual boot with vista and ubuntu for quite sometime now. Came preloaded with activated office, NOD32, etc etc...

I think v10 is based on sp3... personally I feel no need for sp3 so I won't bother downloading that. Despite Vista's looks i find that its very disappointing. Hardly anything runs as smooth as it runs on XP. I have gotten over the graphics and now when I scrutinize the lack of drivers (esp. 64 bit) I really feel like sticking to XP.

Truthfully, I find myself more on Ubuntu than either Vista or XP.
yeah, i don't like Vista, but there are no drivers for my laptop on XP anyway...so rolling back isn't an option

I can undewrstand why some people might want Vista, but, for me, its just a nuisance
