When ever I plug it into my vista machine downstairs on the front two ports vista doesn't see it, it won't even show in my computer, but in the back ports it shows but not properly it jus shows a the pendrive as being empty. But When i plug it into my windows xp computer upstairs it reads the drive fine. I know it can't be nothing to do with my computer downstairs because i use the front ports for my ipod and phone and they work fine. So what gives.
does it have any extra "special" software that automatically installs whenever you plug it into a computer?

If so, then you should try removing it
I dunno.. but samething happens to me when I plug in my psp in the front ports. It either takes long to be recognized or returns the error like this and that, or connects then disconnects.

I assume its something to with the drivers not getting properly installed for the front ports. Usually, I just unplug then replug and test again... if that doesn't work, I plig into the back ports.

Yh it does. But that loads the drivers for it. It A sandisk titanium 2gb U3. It runs the U3 in xp but never in vista

It also works in certain positions.

i have the same usb as you. since getting vista i have found out that U3 doesn't work on Vista... not that that solves your problem though
it used to work before though.
Are the front ports connected?

If certain ports are acting weird, try uninstalling all the USB drivers.
@zinga. All my ports are fine because im using my mouse and keyboard on my back ports and every other usb device i have works fine but even when i plug my pendrive in at the pack it reads for 2 seconds then goes.
have you tried plugging it into a usb hub plugged into you pc
