why is it that when you are trying to register to a site you find interesting, or has something you need to download, they make you input a fudgeing activation code sent to you by e-mail, which i don't know. i always input my old, no longer existing msn address, meaning that site will be posting to nothing. i am sooooooooooo glad the void never did that, else i wouldn't exist here now.
Because of the growing population of spammers.
Don't blame the site blame their asses for inconviencing everyone else.
Dunno - I've only had an issue with spambots when I didn't stick the CAPTCHA (the image verification thing you have to enter) on.
I think the aim of activation emails is primarily to stop people from using fake emails, so that the admins can sPa/\/\ their members' email boxes (ie, "LOOK, WEE'VE CHANGED OUR BANNER!!! ZOMG! YOU MUST VISIT OUR SITE AND SEE IT!")
But anyways, I just use
http://temporaryinbox.com/
I use my real e-mail most of the time =|.. If it's a website I plan on visiting more then twice.
