you mistake the point of Linux. It was never meant to be a gaming hub. Plus, Linux is in an ever-Beta stage. If the main purpose of your using an OS is gaming or GUI directed applications, better stick to Windows. Linux is capable of doing all that but not as much as windows. But try coding in linux.. or security.. or networking.. Linux pawns windows. Linux is not really a new user friendly like Windows is and new user will keep on losing determination to keep trying linux, especially if they are too comfortable with windows...
yeah that's why i said linux isn't good for gaming and it was to the post of Zingy :P
Actually, I think there's a number of reasons, aside from the interface, why Linux doesn't have many games:
- The number of distributions available. Imagine having to release 8 different binaries for each major distro of Linux.
- ^ Not only that, but there are soo many different builds of Linux (and you can always build your own, with CPU specific optimizations)
- ^ To the above program, most Linux applications are open source, which means you typically download the source code, and compile it for your platform. However, I don't think those companies who write multi-million dollar game engines particularly want to give away their source code...
true. they don't want to spend money on a free stuff when they can get money for what they do. :P
