I was tracking the global movement of my SchiDeLoaDeReR theme this morning and ran accross this.
Google earth on the PSP!!

The new version of PSP-Maps is out, here are the updates:
added Windows version to the release

added Google Maps and Yahoo Maps! hybrid views

added Virtual Earth hill view

added a list of available views in the menu

new icon and screenshot

joystick should be less sensitive and more precise

added optional on-screen informations (lat/lon/zoom/view)

geocoding now uses maps.google.com (and not .fr)

load balancing between Google Maps servers

menu updated (smaller font, nicer coding)

readme file was updated

You now have a Windows version distributed in the package, so you can build the map cache on the PC if you don't have WiFi.

Spoiler for Short Readme:
Unzip and install in your PSP firmware 3.x folder.
For custom firmwares 3.90, please also try PSP/GAME380 folder.

Controls:
Digital pad: move the map.
Analog pad: move smoothly the map.
R button: zoom in.
L button: zoom out.
X button: next view.
[] button: previous view.
/\ button: go to address.
O button: show/hide informations.
Start: menu.

Annotation:

With PSP-Maps it is possible to use the Google service Maps, which is the web surface of Google Earth. You can use the street maps as well as satellite pictures and topographical views.

Microsoft Virtual Earth
Yahoo! Maps




Installing PSP-Maps on the PSP

1. Download the homebrew PSP-Maps from the link above

2. Extract the archive to your drive

3. Now activate the USB-Mode on your PSP or put the MemoryStick into your computer.

4. Copy the folder PSP-Maps from the extracted archive to PSP/GAME

notice: If PSP-Maps doesn't start, copy it to GAMEXXX (XXX= your firmware, e.g. GAME380)

5. Finish the USB-mode or put your stick back into the PSP







Using PSP-Maps

1. Activate the Wifi switch on your PSP

2. In the XMB navigate to Game and start the tool PSP-Maps from the stick.

3. Now you have to choose your WiFi connection

4. After that you will be connected with Google Maps and get the world map:





Controls:

L = Zoom Out
R = Zoom In
Analog/D-Pad = Moving on the map
triangle = Open address search
Cross/rectangle= Change view (satellite, map, topographical...)
Cycle = Show/hide information
START = Open the menu

notice: When you are getting the hint Image not available, then you have zoomed too close or there is no view available for this location in the chosen service. So zoom out again or change the view



menu functions:





Enter address...
Choose this point and press X to type the address. You can switch the letters with the D-Pad and create spaces as well. Use cycle to delete a typed letter.
Keep space between street, number and city. With START you will be send to the entered address.
Load favorite ...
You can load a saved location with that. There are 9 slots. Choose the slot using the D-Pad
Save favorite ...
Save a recently viewed location. There are 9 slots. Choose the slot using the D-Pad
Default view ...
That lets you jump to the starting point of the world map
Transition effects: Yes/No
Switches the effect on/off that appears while changing the view
Cache neighborhood radius
You can load a map into the cache using this function. This will make the map also viewable in offline mode. A higher value means a bigger range of the map
Cache size ...
Because the internal PSP cache is rather limited, you can reserve some space on the MemoryStick. This will prevent PSP-Maps from freezing after a while.
Exit menu
exits menu and returns to last view
Quit PSP-Maps
exits PSP-Maps and returns to the XMB.
