A few things I guess:
- The unrealism/fantasy factor. Some things simply wouldn't work in "real" shows. The writers are no longer burdened by such limitations, thus they have a very high degree of imagination. One of the things I like is randomness :P
- Some interesting quirks - for example, the fact that faces grow ridiculously large when one is shouting, or a face turning completely red when blushing. This amount of emphasis cannot be done in a "real" show (in fact, it's typically quite hard to show if someone's blushing in a "real" show, visually at least)
- Visual factors - okay okay, yes, I like colourful animes - you know, people with all sorts of coloured hair, ranging from pinks to blues (and they don't end up looking like freaks)

I likes that a lot too ^_^
i do it for the whacked out stories and other things that you normally don't see in any american media
like android girl found by guy? Crazy little girls with super killing powers? Super big robots that are fighting this other big robot because that robot is going to destroy the world? Like hell you'll find that in ANY American media lol (oh wait transformers had big robots, but that was adapted off an anime anyway, or so i remember)
Yeah, and they are cartoons but thier a lot more.......... smart then american ones (ive seen some extremely retarded ones though) like if you see ren and stimpy you'll see why people think cartoons always have to be extremely retarded :P
Oh yeah, the visuals are just crazy to look at sometimes; someone has to admire the art work :D
P.S. The forums are back to normal yay!
I watch it because its way better than the American chocolatez that wee got here.. :( And even if they show anime over here, all the good stuff are cut out.
The first series I ever bothered to start and finish is Demonbane. lol. I watched those Gundam series, DBZ, Zoids, and the only other 8 yards.

Indeed, its quite cool how creative they can be, whilst still keeping it, for that reality at least, within the realms of normality
To fill the endless void in my listless, empty life.
Wayyy better than most((99.7%)) of American made "cartoons".
They're in depth, great storylines, artistic, etc. etc.
Like Soap Operas for the non~old.

That's not old! ;]
I mean like for the older generations who watch((ed)) soap operas.
Could you imagine one of your grand parents watching anime?? O_o XD
The newer/younger generations are the ones who really watch anime, it's their "Days of Our Lives". lol
