Well for Easter weekend the family and I went up to Wisconsin to the Kalahari Resort. Best part was the fact that they had an indoor Surfing thing. Well I let my 7 year old son do the boogie board thing during the day. and he Rocks. ( kid has no fear and went on everything) Well I got video of that but later (after dinner) I decided that I was going to try it. Unfortunately they switch at 7 to indoor surfing. Oh it was cool to watch and mustered up enough balls to step up to try it.
First thought was how hard can it be if I am on a 1/2" layer of water. I mean I used to skateboard. I am not that old (40). When it was my turn I stood on the board and the instructor said watch out for the water. Well the force of the water coming from the thing took my ankle and knocked me on my donkey (Strike one). But seeing as how I did not go over the top I got to try again.
Got on the board. (I should have done it goofy foot) he said put weight on back foot and let the water under. I hopped to get pushed into the wave. 1 SECOND... Then I thought I was under control 1.5 seconds... I let go.. 2 seconds... I look up 2.5 seconds... Next thing I see are water and waves. so much for that. But yet again I am stuck at the top of the wave. and decide to try body surfing what the heck I am there with nothing to do and end up pirouetting over the top.
All in all I hut my back , neck, and knee. Not to bad I thought an celebrate with a 21 dollar Mai Tai in a chair.
Not to shabby for a week end.
