i have ms office 07 *cough*"illegally"*cough*, but not in the usual method that everyone else does. what i did was get a 60day trial of the professional version, and then edit a file called proof.xml so that it never expires. see the guide here: Hack activate ms office 07
anyways, i couldn't get Vista SP1 to show up in Windows Update, so to do so, i had to install the 5 updates for office 07. 4 of them didn't alter anything major so word, excel, etc still worked. but then i had to download the final update, Microsoft office 07 SP1. this makes it so that everytime i goto word, excel, powerpoint etc, it disables everything. because i installed this, Vista Sp1 finnaly came up :D but unfortunately for me my startup time has doubled. back to my problem, i now want to remove office 07 because it is useless so I'm just gonna use open office or maybe wait and buy office through my sis who's at uni so it only costs $75 :D.

i removed those 4 security updates for office tha got installed through Windows Update all fine.
but when i try to remove Microsoft Office 07 Professional through Add or Remove Programs and then CCleaner, it makes me have to put in the original setup cd or installer. so i have the original 60 day trial installer, but when i run that, it comes up with this: [Image: setupkf8.jpg]
so then i saw in CCleaner that i could remove the office SP1 update, but when i try that, it shows this:

so I'm out of ideas, except that i could just delete all the files, including the registry files, but i don't think that's a very good idea.
so what does everyone else think??
Maybe try reinstalling the Trial and then uninstaling it?? <But don't do this until someone else confirms that you could do this.....
thanks for replying, but i can't do that because i get this when running the trial .exe:

Wow OK I have no idea then....maybe edit the proof.xml back to what it was?
did you make a backup of proof.xml before editing it?
Get vista manager (15 day demo), uninstall office with that, then a windows will pop up asking you to remove any registry entries or files left behind. After you should be able to reinstall.

Yamicsoft also makes a XP version.

the thing is, that when office sp1 was installed, it changed and removed etc heaps of files, and proof.xml is there anymore.
this is my understanding: that when i had the trial and then when i put the hack in, it was still a trial so it had the proof.xml file, but when sp1 was installed, it thinks it is a fully registered version so it doesn't need proof.xml anymore. either that or microsoft knew of this method people were using to get office free, and now stuffed people up like me.

thanks, will try that now
ok in Vista Manager i removed Microsoft Office 07 Professional, but there still is many other files. i don't know why they are seperate, but should i just remove them too>?

Fine, lets force it, run:

Code:
msiexec /X{90120000-006E-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

what's that for? removing sp1 or the whole office thing?
because I've been removing everything through Vista Manager, but yet what you've said to run still comes up, so it must be to remove office sp1??
