... is really something I couldn't care about ...

But anyway, had to go out to vote for Brisbane's lord mayor and local councilor yesterday.  It's really great since I knew basically none of the names on the ballot paper...
(By the way, for those who don't know, voting is compulsory in Australia)

So when walking to the polling centre, you see tonnes of posters around the place, advertising the parties' candidates (hmm, is it a crime to take down those things though?).  When you get to the entrance, there's all these people from each party, trying to shove in their "how to vote" pamphlets.  The pamphlets look really similar though - I mean, I would've thought that if they were trying to sway some last minute deciders, they'd try something more spectacular at least (don't they want to stand out?).

Well, for the actual voting, all I did was fill in random numbers in each box - pretty much what I did for the federal election.  Oh and with the fedral election here, held at the end of last year, I recall the senate voting paper - there were two ways to vote for the senate - either pick one, of fill in your preferences for the candidates from 1-65... ya, that's... 65...

Isn't compulsory voting just wonderful?
double you tee eff @ COMPULSORY VOTING

Why should they bother.... really.

What happens if you don't vote anyway? Jail? Fine?
compulsory voting is probly the stupidest thing ive ever heard of.
Compulsory voting in the US could be a double edged sword if it were to ever happen.  There are times when our voting population is less than 40% of the whole registered population, which could lead to a bad candidate, or even better, it would lead to them having to shut up if that candidate sucks once in office because they chose the person, rather than the non-voter whining all the time.

On the other hand, if these people are too lazy to go out and vote or don't care enough to vote, then maybe wee don't want their vote, since it'll lead to a bad choice anyways.  And besides, if they went out to vote just because it was mandatory in this election, I know for a fact the majority of them would vote for Obama or Clinton just because he is black or she is a woman.  They'd do it because it was "hip" or because it was something that would be a US first.  The problem is I can't stand either of them, and I have a feeling one is going to end up in office just because of that.
if voting were compulsory in america, the candidates would get even dumber each election
if it was compulsory in the u.k i'd be scared. there are a  right bunch of retards over here and wee have parties like legalize cannabis.

lol GO GREEN PARTY!!!!
I think you should have to take an IQ test to vote in America, and then only those with IQs above 110 should be allowed to vote.  If your IQ is below 110, you should have a chip installed in you that sets off voting booth alarms.
