Full Version: A very ambitious idea...

Okay, I got this flash of inspiration this morning. This idea probably will never happen without Sony support, as it's too big and deep, but anyway, here goes:

Something I think would be cool is if the PSP had an all-in-one data managing program, without Sony's limiting bullshit. Think something like iTunes but without the suck and a bit of PSP-hacking goodness. It would have an interface similar to iTunes, with a sidebar where you select different categories of stuff. It would also be like iTunes in that when you drag and drop an item into the main window, it copies it into the program's directory, meaning that you don't have to clutter up your folders trying to keep track of where your stuff is, it's all just stored in C:/Program Files/Awesome Program Idea/Whatever (just as an example). With this program you can keep track of movies, ISO's, GAME-folder games, savedata, and possible music. It automatically recognizes the PSP when you plug it in, plus it will read the PSP's firmware and, if there's a newer version available, ask if you want to download it to the memstick.

On the interface side, again I'm going for an iTunes-style thing, where you can scroll through a list with the icon0.png shown and then just drag and drop them to your PSP and it will automatically be put in the correct folder.

Of course, certain parts of my idea, like the auto-syncing and the firmware recognition would require re-writing the USB connection prx, and the whole thing would require a coding genius, but like I said, it's an overly-ambitious idea that popped into my head. Meh.
Sounds like a merge of an ultra-stripped PSP Filer and FreePlays MP3 Player with a megaboost~

Forget about auto-syncing, stick to the Memory Stick, masing file transfer is much more efficient for the machine.

Reading a Mass of ID3 Tags at the same time will be a hell of a task for the PSP also, let alone Auto-Categorization.
I actually meant that the program would do all the categorization. The PSP would just sit in USB mode, doing nothing but transfers. And like I said, it's probably not that feasible of an idea, it was just one that popped into my head that seemed cool, so I thought I'd share it.
sounds cool man if its even done it b deadly! :P
