Quote:(02-29) 04:00 PST Ahmadabad, India -- A newborn girl fell through the toilet in a moving train and onto the tracks moments after her mother gave birth prematurely, surviving nearly two hours before being found, relatives said Thursday.

The infant's mother, who uses the single name Bhuri, was traveling with relatives on a train when she went to the bathroom shortly before midnight Tuesday and unexpectedly gave birth, said Arjun Kumar, her brother-in-law.

"Later, she fell unconscious and the baby fell through the toilet," he said. "Two stations later, wee knocked at the door."

Bhuri opened the door, soaked in blood.

"When wee asked her about what happened, she said the baby had fallen through onto the tracks," Kumar said.

Toilets on Indian trains usually have holes that open directly onto the tracks, and there were no indications that authorities doubted Bhuri's story or planned to investigate.

Kumar said that after finding Bhuri, relatives pulled the train's emergency brake and notified railway officials. A search was quickly organized, and guards at one of the stations the train had passed soon found the baby.

"She was on the rail track for almost 1 1/2 to two hours," said Dr. Gautam Jain, a pediatrician at Rajasthan Hospital in Ahmadabad, in the western state of Gujarat, where the baby and mother were taken.

The infant, who has not yet been named, was eight to 10 weeks premature and weighed only about 3 pounds, 4 ounces, Jain said. She had a low heart rate and body temperature.

"Wee do not expect such children to survive," Jain said, adding that her survival was "God's mercy."

Damn, that girl is lucky.

yeah. what would the chances of her survival be?
slim to none
actually babies are quite amazing their are many cases of babies bein ran over with no physical injuries...

this is a bit more but you can put things in perspective
Babies are some of the most resilient things on God's green earth. My little brother fell down the stairs when he was 2, literally bounced his way down, then laid at the bottom of the stairs giggling uncontrollably because he thought it was so much fun.
damn, you bro has a violence fetish already then!!! :P
i must have had quite a few injuries to my head when i was young. according to my mother i fell down the stairs once and my head hit on a plug and once i fell and hit my head on the edge of a fireplace. I've had quite a few knocks to my head in fact. maybe that's why I've such a poor memory?
Hmm, my mom was reading a story to my brother in bed and my other baby brother was lying on the bed next to her, and he rolled off. It was only a foot or 2 high but he stopped breathing and she panicked :P

That is a pretty incredible story though. Giving birth in a train is already pretty nuts :P
that's pretty crazy
wow..she's so lucky.  that's good she's fine.

my mom told me that when i was born i had a red mark in the middle of my head.  but the doctor say it was fine.  i wonder if it really was.
