not being a keyboard smasher myself ive always wondered this same thing... and ive come to this conclusion:
Cause the keyboard's keys are like multiple stress balls packed together.

I like to smash my keyboard when something goes wrong, but its not really in games ususally (more like other hardware or coding related stuff) because i jsut want to smash the pc. I used to suckerpunch my monitor but now i got a LCD. I still kick the case though, being smart 'cause that's where the brains are' lol. That's probably why it hates me and im looking for someone stupid to buy it.
I smash the keyboard because its satisfying to hit something without holding back and well, it's part of the computer and sometimes keys dramatically fly out or something.
Anecdote: My chocolatety laptop hardreset on me after I did that to it, and I lost a lot of work so I didnt bother letting it restart, unplugged it, tore it apart and made Binderserv. True story.

I don't smash my keyboard, but that would be my reason
There is a suspicious hole in my nearby plasterboard though

you should make it multiple choice:
1They aren't strong enough to pick up a monitor or PC tower
2Cause, really, it's the keyboard's fault for not being 1337 enough to understand the gamer

i don't smash my keyboard, that's useless
what i do is that I either punch the case (not hard) or punch the wall that is on my right (~20 cm from me)
i do it rarely, but when i do it, i mostly punch the wall and must admit its satifying :P
